The largest lake in Langkawi is shaped like a woman lying on her back. It takes its name from the story of a grieving fairy princess who buried her dead child in the lake, blessing the waters so that any childless woman who bathed in them would be able to conceive. At the end of Burau Bay, a cable car takes visitors high above the treetops to the summit of Gunung Mat Cincang for a panoramic view of Langkawi, neighbouring Kedah province and far beyond to southern Thailand. Hiking trails are also available in the Gunung Mat Cincang Forest Reserve.

Explore the southern islands of the Langkawi archipelago by boat while learning about the Island of the Pregnant Maiden and its mystical lake. The tour begins with a look at the harbour town of Kuah and its renowned eagle statue. Following a cruise through the bay between the main islands, you will reach the Island of the Pregnant Maiden.

Once on the island, take a short walk up to the rim of the lake before descending to the water by stairs. You may choose to stop for a swim on a deserted beach.

You will then continue by boat through additional islands in the area and see the craggy peaks rising out of the sea, sheltering rare plants and magnificent eagles. Enjoy a barbecue lunch in a nearby fishing village before returning to the yacht club.
